Kingsway High School Alumni Association, New York Chapter Inc., though miles away from its almamater, located in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, does provide a solace and a home away from home for all past and present students. Its vibrant annual anniversary programs remain the talk of various alumnus for months after the event, as they wait in expectancy for the next September, where they will once again meet old friends and celebrate the successes of each other.
Fond memories are often recalled in conversation by many past students, who had to walk fair distances from isolated city bus stops to and from school, some after having traveled early in the mornings from rural areas. After school, some students by virtue of necessity must now retrace their steps yes, rural and homeward bound, after having had an arduous but informative day in multipurpose class rooms. All traveled the Halfway Tree Road, Lyndhurst Road, Cross Roads and Parry Road corridors, which provided access. The singular purpose was to arrive on time to the campus which became our campus, our almamater; all tucked away among neighborhood Mango trees, Tamarind trees and privately owned family homes.
How so many found their way from primarily rural areas to this bastion of Christian education in the capital city, seem to have been the reason why our crest was underscored by the words Via Regis Optima Est. “The Kings Way Is Best”.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
