Purpose
The purpose for forming the association, was: to provide secondary educational opportunities, for older students who were beyond the normal age range for admittance to secondary schools; to provide assistance to students of all ages who are financially challenged in the form of scholarships ; to provide additional support to the school in the form of learning enhancement materials. e.g., computers, text books, smart boards and laboratory supplies etc... While the association does provide the funding, it does not participate in the award process. The awards are made by the school on the basis of merit without regard to sex, age or ethnicity.
Past Activity
More than ten years ago, we were able to procure 30 used computers from the University of Ohio. These computers were shipped directly to KHS. Those computers are now very old and need to be replaced.
Over the past twenty nine years, the association has honored tis commitment to KHS’s students As a result KHS has continued to provide a unique service to students who would not otherwise have has the opportunity to gain access to higher education. Many graduates have already obtained asses to higher education and have become professionals.
The words of Owen Panton Class of 1956, succinctly captures the chronological variation that exist among the student population:
“Remember how we mingled. Men and women advanced in years, adults and youth together, side by side in wooden chairs. Only at this school so blest, were minds, not age put to the teat.
Present Activity
Presently we are committed to the establishment of a water bottling plant on campus. Bottled water will be sold to the community, in an effort to provide a supplementary income stream to augment our scholarship commitment.”
Additionally, we are presently involved in a fundraising campaign, in an effort to realize the objectives of the association. Accordingly we are soliciting support from organizations as well as from individuals. Contributions can be financial or educational materials.
